The Colosseum, Vatican, pasta and piazzas — Rome done with a proper itinerary and the right hotel.
Rome is an open-air museum on a scale no other city can match. The density of ancient history, Renaissance art and Baroque architecture within a relatively compact walkable centre is extraordinary — and it's all set against one of Europe's most vibrant food and cafe cultures.
In Rome, the ancient sits alongside the everyday with casual familiarity. You walk past a 2,000-year-old temple on your way to a coffee bar. The Pantheon, still intact after nearly two millennia, sits beside a gelateria. The Colosseum anchors one end of a neighbourhood of trattorias, wine bars and artisan shops. The city rewards wandering.
The historic centre — particularly around the Pantheon, Campo de' Fiori and Trastevere — puts you within walking distance of everything. For luxury, the hotels along Via Veneto and around the Spanish Steps are outstanding. For a more local feel, Prati (near the Vatican) and Pigneto are excellent choices.
Beyond the obvious — Colosseum, Vatican, Trevi Fountain — Rome rewards deeper exploration. The Borghese Gallery requires advance booking but is one of Italy's finest. The Capuchin Crypt is extraordinary. The Aperol Spritz at sunset in Piazza Navona is, frankly, non-negotiable.
We regularly arrange day trips to Pompeii (3 hours by train), the Amalfi Coast (4 hours), Florence (1.5 hours by fast train) and Tivoli with its Villa d'Este gardens (45 minutes). All of these are manageable as day trips and add significant value to any Roman holiday.
3–4 nights covers the main sights at a comfortable pace. 5–6 nights allows for day trips and a slower rhythm that suits the city far better.
Yes. The Vatican Museums attract millions of visitors — booking online in advance saves hours of queuing. We include pre-booked entry in all our Rome packages.
Rome is outstanding for food. The local cuisine — cacio e pepe, carbonara, supplì, artichokes alla giudia — is simple, technique-driven and deeply satisfying. We include restaurant recommendations tailored to your preferences.
